Q.When did the Congress demand Purna Swaraj and why ?

Ans.

In 1929, keeping in view the sentiments of the young and energetic leaders of the Congress like Subhash Chandra Bose and Jawahar Lai Nehru, Mahatma Gandhi modified his demands. Jawahar Lai Nehru was made the president of the Lahore Session of Indian National Congress in December 1929. It passed the historic resolution that the attainment of complete independence or Poorna Swaraj was the goal of the Congress. At 12 midnight on 31 December, the tricolour flag of complete independence was unfurled on the banks of the river Ravi. It was decided to observe 26 January 1930 as the Independence Day. A pledge of independence was taken all over the country by the people of India.
