Q. What were the grievances of the Zamindars against the British ?

Ans.

Lord William Bentinck had imposed heavy land tax on the Zamindars. Dalhousie confiscated the lands of 20,000 Zamindars. Similarly, the Taluqadars of Oudh were also annoyed by the ill-treatment of the Company with them. This unjust policy of the British made the Zamindars their opponents.
