Q. How far Lord Dalhousie was responsible for the Rising of 1857 ?

Ans.

The discontent against the British rule in India increased due to Dalhousie's policy of wholesale . annexation of native states. He annexed the states of Satara, Jhansi, Nagpur, Sambhalpur, Jaipur, etc. unjustly. His occupation of the kingdoms of Oudh and Punjab were also severely criticised. Such policy of Dalhousie was an important cause of rising of 1857.
