After the failure of 2nd Round table conference on communal issue, the British Prime Minister
Ramsaray Macdonald announced his communal award.
(1) It gave separate representation to the Indian
Christians. Europeans and Muslims in the legislatures,
(2) Separate constituencies were to be framed to give representation to the Zamindars, universities, merchants and industrialists
(3) It provided separate seats for the untouchables.
(4) The Sikhs in the Punjab and the Europeans in Bengal were given more seats in proportion to their population
(5) This award gave Hindus representation in the North-western frontier province where they were in minority.
