Q. Why did Mahatma Gandhi start the Non-co-operation Movement ?

Ans.

It aimed to (1) Support the Khilafat Movement (2) To compel the government to compensate the people who suffered atrocities in the Jallianwala Bagh tragedy. (3) To achieve the goal of Swaraj. Mahatma Gandhi was the first to plunge into the Non-co-operation Movement. He surrendered his title of Kaisar-Hind which the British Government had earlier granted to him for his services to the British during the First World War.
