Q. . How the denial of Government jobs created discontent among the educated Indians ?

Ans.

During the administration of Cornwallis, a law was passed which debarred Indians from appointments. jj to high jobs. The highest office open to Indians in the Company's service was that of a Sadar or Amin. The Charter Act of 1833 had declared that government jobs would be given on the basis of merit and ability. But'actually no high jobs were given to Indians. All this created a feeling of bitterness among the educated Indians and talented persons against the British rule.
